How to Make a Nice Pinoy Hot Cocoa Drink

!±8± How to Make a Nice Pinoy Hot Cocoa Drink

In order to make a nice hot tsokolate (hot cocoa), you have to carefully select a very good cocoa tablet bought from your reputable store. My personal preference is the cocoa tablet which comes from Talisay City, Cebu, Philippines for it has a robust flavor and a nutty after taste. All the flavor and aroma of the tsokolate is locked inside every carefully roasted cacao beans made into cocoa tablets.

To start, we would need the following ingredients: 4 cocoa tablets, 1/2 cup of cream, 4 table spoons of sugar, 2 eggs, 5 cups of water.

Place in a casserole the cold water and drop the cocoa tablets and water at a ratio of 1 tablet to 1 1/4 cup water.

Slowly boil together in slow flame allowing the cocoa tablets to slowly melt completely and blend in perfectly in the water.

Then place a table spoon of sugar for every cup of water used. Then let the concoction simmer for a couple of minutes stirring it and making sure that there are no big granules left from the cocoa tablets.

While waiting for the mixture to be ready, beat the two whole eggs and mix it with one half cup cream. You have to beat the mixture until it is smooth and frothy.

While the cocoa is simmering, slowly pour in the cream mixture while stirring it to mix it evenly and prevent clumping of the eggs. Then turn off heat and let it stand for a minute.

Pour into coffee cups at half the cup. You can add a dollop of whipped cream on the center to make it pleasing to the eye and some bread on a saucer to complement this sinful drink. Savor the aroma and sip it carefully for it may have some oil on top which may still be very hot even though it is not emitting any steam after standing for a few minutes.

Bon appétit!
